A Remodel Project can last anywhere from three months to one year. This depends on the scope of work. A project timeline and schedule will be provided to give an idea of the duration of your project. Occasionally there are delays caused by weather, vendor vacations, factory errors, and other unpredictable influences, which are out of our control. Everyone involved: designer, client, vendors, and contractors are expected to not cause unreasonable delays in the project.
In most cases our design services are charge based on a flat rate per space designed. Other fees may apply and are determined by the scope of the project.
Increasing the scope is not a problem. We will discuss design fees upon assessment of the additional space. If additional work is agreed upon, an addendum with be made to this agreement.
For the project to running smoothly, having a clear budget is especially important. The budget and material selections are set before the start of your renovation. This will ensure that we stay on budget and time. We will work inside of the provided budget parameters. Often there are items selected during the project that may strain the budget. However, it is up to the client to keep themselves on budget. You will be advised that the original budget is being compromised. Ultimately it will be at the client’s discretion to extend their budget to include these selections.
It is my intention to give you a full cost outlook for your remodel project. However, additional costs such as storage, shipping, installation, or unexpected labor do occasionally happen.
Cost of lodging and meals during the renovation process are factors that are often overlooked when considering your budget. I asked that you consider these cost when determining your preparedness to begin your renovation.
It is advised that clients do not stay at the home during a remodel project. Living onsite is not an ideal living environment. There will be lots of dust, noise, and a constant flow of people in and out of your home. There will also be many days where there will not be any working facilities such as water and electricity. It is the contractor’s responsibility to complete your renovation in a timely manner. Providing facilities outside of the scope of work will cause delays and additional cost.
Yes, I collaborate with the contractors hired by the client. I love working with other design professionals to create your custom space. I however prefer to use professionals that I have worked with on previous projects. Nsight Designs does not provide contractor services; so independent architects and contractors are an integral part of the process.
You have hired me to design and complete a vision for your space and I ask that you do not select items without my approval because items that you select may not be a fit for the design, space, or budget. You will receive detailed specifications for items that you can purchase directly from a vendor. Any items that are not purchased thru the design firm are the client’s responsibility for delivery, storage and defects.
Large items will be delivered directly to client’s home. We ask that you keep items in a low traffic and climate-controlled environment. Vendors have different delivery and storage policies. Clients are responsible for all shipping, storage, & delivery fees for items that can be held on the jobsite.
A coded keypad will be installed, only those working will have knowledge of door code. This will allow installers access to the jobsite. This is important to avoid lockouts and delays. We ask that individual not working on jobsite to not walkthrough jobsite. The jobsite can be a dangerous place for someone not in proper gear and unaware of jobsite etiquette. Site visits can be scheduled. This will avoid injury and misinterpretation of site condition and process.
